A Christmas Eve Prayer

 

Lift up the Advent cry,

shout for the world to hear:

God has sent out his Word –

hope, joy and life are near!

Those watching will not wait in vain –

Emmanuel comes to bring God’s reign.

 

Jesus, your Christmas birthday is very near.  As we hear the ancient words and sing the familiar carols, make us ready to welcome you, and celebrate your stable birth.  May you also be born anew in our hearts.

Hear this and all our prayers, in your most holy name.  Amen
