Lìon-sa mo bheath', a Thighearna Dia
Fill Thou my life, O Lord my God

Eadar-theangachadh le Dòmhnall Meek air ‘Fill Thou my life, O Lord my God’, le Horatius Bonar (1808-89). Fonn air a mholadh: Richmond (Thomas Haweis, 1734-1820).

Lìon-sa mo bheath', a Thighearna Dia
Fill Thou my life, O Lord my God

Lìon-sa mo bheath', a Thighearna Dia,
'S gach pàirt le cliù dhut fhèin,
Airson 's gun cuireadh i an cèill
Do dhòigh 's do rùn gu lèir.

Chan iarrainn moladh beòil a-mhàin,
No eadhan moladh crìdh',
Ach moladh anns a h-uile pàirt
Dem bheatha anns gach nì.

Moladh an nithean cumant' dhaoin',
Gach dol a-mach 's a-steach;
Moladh anns gach gairm is gniomh,
Ge beag is crìon an dreach.

Lìon-sa gach pàirt dhiom fhìn le cliù;
Leig leam bhith labhairt ort,
Ag innse mu do ghaol 's do ghnàth,
Ged bhithinn-s' fann is bochd.

Mar sin cha bhi den oidhch' no 'n là
Aon phàirt gun naomhachd ann,
Ach bidh mo bheatha-sa gu lèir
'N co-comann riuts' 's gach àm.

Fill thou my life, O Lord my God,
in ev'ry part with praise,
that my whole being may proclaim
thy being and thy ways.

Not for the lip of praise alone,
nor e'en the praising heart,
I ask, but for a life made up
of praise in ev'ry part:

Praise in the common things of life,
its goings out and in;
praise in each duty and each deed,
however small and mean.

Enduring wrong, reproach, or loss
with sweet and steadfast will,
forgiving freely those who hate,
returning good for ill.

So shall no part of day or night
from sacredness be free,
but all my life, in ev'ry step,
be fellowship with thee.
Horatius Bonar, 1808 - 1889
